What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected under the skin. Dermal fillers are used to smoothen line, soften creases as well as restore lost volume and create a general fuller appearance.
Injecting dermal fillers into the face can improve the appearance of facial lines and volume loss caused by age or certain medical conditions.
You should NOT receive treatment if you are breast-feeding or pregnant or under the age of 18.
Those with a history of anaphylaxis, multiple severe allergies or a history of allergy to gram-positive bacterial proteins should not have the injections.
What to expect during appointment?
Every Appointment starts with a complimentary Consultation. At that time we will go over all areas you wish to address, answer any questions you may have, as well as provide a quote of total cost before proceeding.
Your face will be cleansed and the areas that are to be injected will be marked with a removable eyeliner/marker. We may apply a numbing cream (depending on the area) to help with any discomfort. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. Once you are ready, the injections will be performed in various areas to target the desired muscles.
You may also experience swelling and bruising but it will subside within a few days. At the end of your treatment you will be given instructions on what to do and what not to do in the next 24 hours.
A follow up email will be sent out 2 weeks after treatment, to check in on your results and schedule follow up appointments if necessary.
Onset
Depending on the product and the areas treated, you should be able to notice results immediately after receiving filler injections. Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and will subside over the next few days following treatment. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment, but your cosmetic surgeon may ask you to take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity.
Duration
Hyaluronic acid fillers tend to be the most temporary option, and therefore are often recommended for first-time filler patients. These will typically last from 6 to 18 months. Injections to the lips will wear out a little faster than those to the nasolabial folds.
